Richard Shoemaker-Moyle

Richard provides legal counsel regarding estate planning and administration, as well as general business law including business formation, mergers and acquisitions, business maintenance and succession planning, and contract review. He has practiced law in these fields as well as in civil litigation for over a decade and has advised hundreds of clients regarding their estates and businesses. His clients range from individuals wishing to structure a plan to support their families, to nationally recognized companies with dozens of employees spread over the United States, as well as local mom-and-pop businesses and start-ups on main street. Richard enjoys working with his clients to personally tailor their estate and business plans to suit their individual needs.  He has also handled a wide variety of civil litigation, providing the services his clients need to resolve their disputes.

Richard is admitted to practice in all California courts and the Federal District Courts for the Eastern and Central Districts of California, and he is a member of the Placer County Bar Association.  Richard has served as a commissioner on the Economic Development Commission for the City of Auburn since 2019 and is presently the vice-chair of the commission.  Previously, he served as the Vice-President and a Director on the Board of Directors for the Sacramento County Bar Association’s Business Section.

Prior to practice, Richard graduated with distinction from McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento and was admitted into the Roger J. Traynor Honor Society for his academic achievements. During law school, he earned Witkin Awards for receiving the highest grades in his International Business Law, Constitutional Law, and Antitrust Law classes.  He also earned honors in Trial Advocacy and International Legal Research. Richard received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate University in Upstate New York, where he graduated cum laude with a concentration in English Literature and an emphasis on creative writing and linguistics.

After hours, Richard enjoys spending time with his wife and son, exploring the nooks and crannies of Northern California, skiing in Tahoe, playing the occasional board game, writing, and cooking for his friends and family.
